For the last twenty years three men known as “the Big Three” - Roger Federer of Switzerland, Rafael Nadal of Spain and Novak Djokovic of Serbia - have dominated men’s tennis. 80% of the Grand Slam tournaments held since 2003 (when Federer won his first title) have been won by one of the Big Three. Considered the three best tennis players of all time, they hold the top three places in all time records for Grand Slam titles, finals, semifinals, quarterfinals and total match wins.

The most successful contemporary of the Big Three is Andy Murray who won 3 grand slams in his career; the Big Three each won 20+ grand slams. Federer, now 42, retired in 2022. Nadal, 38, is expected to retire in the next twelve months due to accumulated injuries but won Roland Garros (a Grand Slam tournament held on his preferred surface, clay) as recently as 2022. Djokovic, 37, won the Olympic gold medal in men's tennis at the Paris Olympics.

Sam is a substitute teacher who plays music in their spare time. While they would like to break into the music industry, none of their original songs have had any major success. One day, Sam wakes up and find that they have entered a world exactly the same as theirs, except that "The Beatles" never played music. Sam is still able to remember how to play the songs.

Graduating medical students in Australia are not eligible to practice medicine unsupervised, and must complete a two year paid internship as a junior doctor in a public hospital to obtain general registration with the Medical Board of Australia.

In New South Wales, internship positions are allocated without regard to indicia of merit (CV, grades etc). Candidates have the opportunity to express their preference of desired hospital, but these may not be honoured if too many applicants register their preference for a particular hospital. Domestic graduates of local universities are guaranteed a job, but must accept the single offer they are made.

In Victoria, internships are allocated primarily by merit. Candidates receiving internships at the most sought after hospitals (generally large tertiary referral hospitals in metropolitan Melbourne) are decided by a combination of medical school grades, curriculum vitae, references from senior doctors and an interview.

During Xi Jinping's era, China has increasingly restricted academia from international spheres and focused on developing home-grown theories in line with an "Independent Chinese System of Knowledge". Examples of this include implementing strict regulations on research collaborations and exchanges, choosing to only publish certain research domestically and integrating party doctrine and traditional values into contemporary academic literature. 

A Reuters/Ipsos poll in July 2024 found that Michelle Obama outpolled Donald Trump as a presidential candidate by 11% nationally. This far outstripped potential Democratic alternatives such as Kamala Harris (-1%), Gavin Newsom (-3%) and Joe Biden (0%).

Assume for the purposes of this debate that upon dropping out of the race, Joe Biden would not have immediately endorsed any particular candidate.
